Dragonflies and Lilies

The river sings brightly to the glory of God:
It bursts with light and life and love,
Each ripple catching sunshine and twinkling joyfully,
Reflecting back these gifts so generously given.
All nature is conspiring to display its interest in life:
Dragonflies flirt with the air like angels,
And lilies join in as trumpets declaring
The heavenly blessing of love.
Wildly flashing their colours
With the abandonment they were created for.
All this to the music of insistent birds:
‘The season of singing has come’
